Southeast Asia is experiencing rapid and uneven urbanisation, with differentiated impact on places and people. Sustainable city planning and governance in climate emergencies is critical for safe and healthy urban futures across the region. City of Melbourne brings significant expertise in urban resilience – the capacity of a city’s systems, businesses, institutions, communities, and individuals to survive, adapt, and thrive. In collaboration with the City of Melbourne, Australia Awards program will showcase local expertise and build connections between practitioners by inviting ASEAN-based Australia Awards scholars and summit delegates and share experiences of enhancing community resilience, disaster preparedness and economic development to tackle a resilient urban future.
