In partnership with CIFAL Newcastle, a United Nations training centre hosted at the University of Newcastle, the event brings together NSW based scholars to discuss best practice knowledge and skills needed to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Sendai framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The visit to the Australian Space Discovery Centre would be an eye-opening experience that will show the impact of space research in a wide array of industries and even every day activities. Scholars will hear from an impressive selection of researchers operating with the Agency to be inspired by stories of opportunity, curiosity and technology. Delivered in partnership with the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre, an unincorporated joint venture between CSIRO, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, and the University of Western Australia. This important research centre enables and supports ground-breaking science to drive innovation across Australia and the world.   The event highlights opportunities for collaboration with countries in our region to problem-solve challenges across several domains including in the areas of medicine, energy, resources, cyber security, data management and artificial intelligence. By showcasing current research in the sphere of health, privacy, and cyber security, scholars will learn how a super-computer contributes to solve major challenges, capabilities that can be made available to them upon their return to their countries. There will be a panel of researchers followed by a Q&A facilitated by Sally Dawkins, Director of the Western Australia State Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. *Event by invitation only due to limited capacity
